Nine years ago the-then editor of The Citizen newspaper, Martin Williams, gave me the gig of gigs. Caxton would pay me as a researcher, not a journo, and I was to produce a short fact-based piece, per subject, each week, looking to the overall and the long horizon – “In the news we report the score, you must tell the direction of play”, nationally.
