Today In Fact, 6 January

On this day in 1929 a young Albanian nun of the Loreto Sisters arrived in Calcutta to begin working among the poor. Mother Theresa went on to found an order dedicated to work with the poor and it is one of the glories of our civilization that we can know that she began her work on the birthday of another Saint some five hundred years before. Saint Joan of Arc was born this day in 1412 in Lorraine.
